Following an article published by The Huffington Post regarding wintertime skincare concerns, a representative from Likewise Skincare offers a response.

On October 16, 2012 Likewise Skincare, producer of moisturizer for dry irritated skin, comments on an article published by The Huffington Post regarding caring for skin during the post summer months and the various steps to keep complexions healthy.

According to The Huffington Post, the transition into the cooler months must be met with proper skincare, as the summertime often congests and damages complexions. “Cooler and drier temperatures and exposure to constant heat [from] fireplaces and cold, wind, and rain are harsh on skin. Changing your skin care regimen to keep up with these seasonal changes is key. What worked in the warmer, humid months is not what your skin needs now,” The Huffington Post reports. The article recommends combating fighting drier complexions with a gentle exfoliate and using products that will rehydrate skin.

In addition, the Huffington Post article affirms that sun damage is prevalent even after the sunny summer months and advises that sunscreen is worn throughout autumn and winter. According to Lisa Shariat, a representative for Likewise Skincare, “I recommend finding skincare products that are specifically created to help soothe dry irritated skin. Likewise Skincare produces an SPF daily moisturizer with niacinamide, which can help calm dry skin and reduce redness. As The Huffington Post reports, it is extremely important to change skincare routines according to the seasons and as the days get colder, dry skin should be targeted.”

The Huffington Post offers additional cold weather skincare tips, like skin detoxing, keeping chapped lips at bay and remaining hydrated. According to the article, “Some things still stay the same. We need enough water for hydration (take up sipping herbal tea during the cooler months), proper nutrition (switch your summer salads to braised dark leafy green such as kale, spinach and chard), get adequate ‘down time’ (fall brings on back to school, holidays... make sure to take time for yourself) sleep, exercise and joy to both look and feel healthy.”

Likewise Skincare was founded by board-certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. Each moisturizer is formulated with skin-balancing toners to work with your specific skin type. The moisturizers use a combination of anti-aging antioxidants, ultra-protective zinc oxide and water-resistant ingredients to keep you protected.
