Bloomington, Ind. (PRWEB) October 11, 2012

Author Solutions, Inc. (ASI), the world leader in indie book publishing, today announced it will host its Book-to-Screen PitchFest at the New York City Marriott Marquis Hotel in the heart of Times Square on October 19-20. The event offers participating authors the unique opportunity to pitch their story ideas to representatives from entertainment-industry companies. Two authors can also earn the opportunity to pitch their story ideas via video conference at a later date to TV personality Meredith Vieira, for development consideration by her production company, Meredith Vieira Productions.

“PitchFest provides authors genuine access to Hollywood decision-makers,” said Keith Ogorek, senior vice president of marketing for Author Solutions, Inc. “The success of ASI’s previous PitchFest events demonstrates that authors are very eager to have their books considered for development, and Hollywood is continually searching for new ideas for film, television and stage.”

The event begins with a learning workshop where producer Robert Kosberg, best known as Hollywood’s “king of the pitch,” teaches authors how to formulate an effective, compelling pitch. Participants are then given the opportunity to create or rework their story pitches before delivering them in a practice round to Kosberg, Ogorek, or ASI’s Director of Film and New Media Marcus Chait. Then finally, in speed-dating fashion, the authors will each have two minutes to deliver their fine-tuned pitches to at least seven industry professionals representing different entertainment-based companies.

Previous PitchFest events have generated 398 requests from the Hollywood executives for more than 200 different titles. Successfully negotiated deals include: Trisha Ventker’s, “Internet Dates from Hell,” optioned by Paula Wagner; Alyson Mead’s “Searching for Sassy,” optioned by Tagline Pictures, producers of the hit USA Network show “Psych”; and Humberto G. Garcia’s “Mustang Miracle,” optioned by George Lopez’s company, Travieso Productions.

Book-to-Screen PitchFest events are available exclusively to ASI and its partner-imprint authors. For more about ASI or for information about self-publishing, visit http://www.authorsolutions.com.
