Columbia, SC (PRWEB) October 13, 2012
A Georgia man, Ernest Osei Addo, was, according to a September 5th report by WLTX, recently denied bail after impersonating a physician at five South Carolina Agape Senior nursing homes. Investigators are still unsure if Addo was responsible for any harm to the Agape Nursing Home residents (The State of South Carolina VS Ernest Osei Addo, Case 2012A3210200347). McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates P.A., a South Carolina law firm, is now offering free nursing home neglect case evaluations to anyone victimized during the year Addo was treating patients.
Agape Senior hired Addo after he allegedly presented fake documentation claiming to be an Orangeburg man licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.. According to an August 28th report by CBS News, during his employment at Agape, Addo treated over 500 senior citizen patients. He was employed at Agape from February 15, 2011 through August 22, 2012. Investigators are now combing through a year’s worth of medical records to determine which senior citizen patients may have been harmed.
“Taking a loved one to live at a nursing home is highly emotional experience," said H. Patterson McWhirter. “We need to be able to trust that nursing home facilities will take care of our loved ones when we can’t. Agape failed it’s community by negligently putting their residents lives at risk.”
Patients who were treated by Addo may have experienced neglect or abuse. McWhirter, stated that victims, or the family members of Agape residents should contact a South Carolina nursing home abuse lawyer immediately to determine what their legal options are.
For over 30 years, McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates P.A. has represented nursing home abuse victims throughout South Carolina including Columbia, Lexington, Orangeburg, Sumter, Camden, Aiken, and Newberry.
