Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP (HA&W), the largest Georgia-headquartered tax, accounting and consulting firm, is leading an effort to build trusting relationships and bring more Chinese companies to the U.S.
Today Chinese investment into the U.S. is at an all-time high as more Chinese manufacturers are entering the U.S. marketplace and are actively acquiring U.S. companies, land and facilities. In addition, U.S. companies continue to enter the Chinese market. This year alone HA&W’s manufacturing and distribution group has worked with more than a dozen U.S. companies to establish wholly-owned subsidiaries in China, a process that requires sophisticated planning. These growing inbound and outbound trends make now the ideal time to continue to foster Georgia’s relations with China, and HA&W is helping to lead that effort.
For the next two weeks, Richard Kopelman, CEO- and managing partner-elect at HA&W, Mitchell Kopelman, partner-in-charge of HA&W’s tax practice and technology and life sciences group, and Wendy Lu, tax manager, will be in China building relationships with Chinese companies as well as existing HA&W clients doing business in China. The HA&W envoy is sharing current best practices and knowledge on doing business in Georgia by presenting to more than 50 Chinese companies at a seminar in Shanghai.
HA&W is leveraging its manufacturing expertise, membership in Baker Tilly International, the world’s eighth largest accountancy and business advisory network, and Baker Tilly’s annual conference being held in Beijing, China from October 18-24, as an opportunity to continue building relationships with Chinese manufacturing companies while overseas. Today, HA&W works with a number of Chinese companies who have operations in the U.S. and the Firm anticipates growth in this area.
“With the current boom in Chinese investment into the U.S., now is the time for us to continue building trusting relationships with Chinese companies,” said Richard Kopelman. “Common pitfalls and challenges can be avoided, saving Chinese companies’ time and money as they penetrate the U.S. marketplace, by working with HA&W’s experienced international services group.”
HA&W boasts the largest international tax and accounting practice among Georgia’s independent accounting and tax firms. Yelena Epova, partner-in-charge of HA&W’s international services practice, won the 2011 Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Global Impact Award for Service Providers because of her global business experience working with HA&W clients. The Firm has more than 10 professionals on staff who speak Mandarin as a first language, and 24 other languages are also spoken within the Firm, including Spanish, Russian and German. Additionally, more than 55 HA&W professionals have immigrated to the U.S. and understand the challenges of moving to a new country and are able to help their clients successfully acclimate to their new business surroundings. Many of these professionals have their CPA and CPA-equivalent from their home country.
