New York personal injury attorney Michael V. Kaplen, a partner in the Pleasantville, New York law firm of De Caro & Kaplen, LLP, presented the evidence lecture at the New York law annual update series sponsored by the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Kaplen has lectured several hundred attorneys hailing from Manhattan, Long Island and Westchester on recent developments in the law of evidence in New York State. This is the third year that Kaplen has been nominated to lecture on this topic to his peers; he is additionally slated to chair the complete update conference in Westchester County. Kaplen presented updates on evidentiary decisions in cases involving automobile accidents, construction site accidents, workplace injuries, injuries in buildings and other structures, and in the areas of medical and hospital malpractice in lectures given in Manhattan and in Long Island. A further lecture has been scheduled for November in Westchester County.
The conference is presented each year to personal injury attorneys throughout New York, and is intended to serve as a comprehensive update each year on court decisions and new statutes in the fields of civil evidence, civil procedure, construction law, medical malpractice, municipal liability, premises liability and product liability.
“What makes a great trial lawyer is being prepared, and an essential part of preparation is being familiar with the latest court decisions and laws that may affect the legal rights of my clients. It is imperative that I am versed in the most recent case and legal theories. I take great pride in being able to teach other attorneys so that they, too, can better represent accident victims,” said Michael V. Kaplen, New York accident and injury attorney.
