Texas Retail Electricity Provider Pledges to Create First “Green” Prairie Lights Event.

This holiday season, Gexa Energy will help light up more than four million lights at the annual Prairie Lights and invest in renewable energy credits equal to the amount of electricity used throughout the event. The 2012 “Prairie Lights Powered by Gexa Energy” will provide a two-mile path driving tour that includes the world’s longest lighted tunnel at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.

“We are delighted to sponsor this year’s Prairie Lights that will bring excitement to thousands of families this holiday season,” said Brian Landrum, president of Gexa Energy. “It is important for us to invest in renewable energy credits in order to offset the environmental impact of the electricity usage at this event. We take pride in being a responsible energy company that cares about helping people use energy in an environmentally responsible way.”

Prairie Lights will open from November 22 to December 31. Specific hours are Sunday – Thursday from 6 – 9 p.m. and Friday – Saturday from 6 – 10 p.m. It will also open from 6 – 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
