Listen Up Español Raises $30,000 to Build School in Nicaragua

Spanish language call center, Listen Up Español, partners with non-profit organization to build school

Listen Up Español, a leading Spanish language call center for the U.S. Hispanic market, has partnered with buildOn and Synapse Group, Inc. to build a school in Nicaragua and has plans to build a school in Haiti in 2013. Members of the Listen Up Español team will travel to Nicaragua in November 2012 to help build the school.

Listen Up Español has committed to partnering with buildOn and raised $30,000 dollars to build the school. Such partnerships align with the Listen Up Español Code of Awesomeness and core values. Included in these core values are to grow brain cells and go beyond ourselves.

Tony Ricciardi, Co-founder and President of Listen up Español said, “By building this school for women and children, we help break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education. We hope to inspire our employees and companies in the industry to reach out, like never before, and empower the people who need it the most. buildOn helps us to accomplish this.”

At the Listen Up Español call center in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, agents provided callers with a special magazine offer. For every acceptance, Synapse would donate one dollar to buildOn. “We are proud to support buildOn in their on-going commitment to education and literacy, two causes that are near and dear to Synapse,” says Sebastien Bilodeau, EVP, Partnership Marketing & Sales.

The ten Listen Up Español employees who will travel to Nicaragua were required to submit a two minute video about the reasons why they should be chosen to participate in this project. Employees from both the call center in Mexico and the U.S. company headquarters in Portland, Maine were selected to travel to Nicaragua. The team members will start to build the school’s foundation alongside village natives.
