Midas Company Limited based in Tokyo, Japan Announced Initiation of Operations for Asia via its new office in Hong Kong.

"Since many Japanese companies are setting up operations overseas, particularly in Asia, the last year or two has been full of requests for our office design and consulting service. As companies localize and work to serve their clients on the ground, many want to maintain a sense of continuity in design and achieve the same efficiency in terms of work space they enjoy in Japan", states Miyako Ikeda head of the corporate planning group and the new Hong Kong operation.

As Japan’s economy continues in deflationary mode, there are a some building owners who witness endlessly dropping rents and are seeking ways to improve their building and raise the building's overall appeal.

"We have begun a service where we give an older building a fresh new look using outside foliage, indirect lobby lighting, repainting of the elevators, lobby seating, etc. We have seen buildings fill right back up and rents rebound for these owners and this gives all of us involved in these projects a deep sense of satisfaction," states Ikeda.

Passing on the Knowledge via DOUMA
DOUMA which is a part of the Midas Group and run by Kiyohiko Ozawa, is dedicated to the consulting aspect of Office Design. Ozawa and his team have initiated an Ergonomics Assessment service for clients which includes the ergonomic assessment of each individual's desk, review of the lighting in the office and its effect on work efficiency. The team will also review the satisfaction level of the current office ergonomics as well as proposals for improvement of the
overall ergonomic environment.

Ozawa States "We are also in the process of starting a training program for office environment specialists and workplace consultants. We plan to hold lectures divided into theory and practice and we will discuss the thinking behind workplace consulting as well as present case studies on how this thinking is put into practice". DOUMA plans to offer this training to member companies from early 2013.
