It was reported last week by CNN that Facebook had reached 1 billion users and 140.3 billion connections between users. Samuel Junghenn founder of Digital Marketing Agency Think Big Online says this announcement just reinforces the need for businesses to get on Facebook.

“I’ve been saying for months that businesses need to stop focusing on the negative press around Facebook and start focusing on engaging. Facebook has a massive market share of all online consumers and any business would be remiss to not use it as a platform to drive traffic and customers.” Said Mr Junghenn.

Many experts have been predicting that Facebook would reach 1 billion users in 2012 and this prediction came true in early October. This new milestone achievement by Facebook is predicted to help drive up the share price and calm investor nerves around Facebook.

This milestone for Facebook should also help to allow businesses to engage further in the platform and make the investments required to generate a return on investment.

“The problem to date is that Facebook advertisers have been looking for a quick return on their investment. They haven’t taken the time required to really engage in a meaningful way that would return results.” Said Mr Junghenn.
