Australian, by Way of New York, Singer-Songwriter captures the Soul of the Happiness in New Music Video
Drawing inspiration from influences Joni Mitchell and Sheryl Crow, Belle decided to create a video to capture her inner flower-child, a child which, apparent to anyone watching the video, had obviously been allowed to grow unchecked for years. When she finally bursts out in the video, the viewer is flooded with a throw back to feel-good 1960's peace rallies and drum circles updated with a fun modern edge that only Belle can bring.
The song, Making the Most of It, was written by Belle to express her effervescent optimism, and to keep audiences kicking with with the sounds of good stuff, like, you know... flowers, and jeans, and coffee-house pop. In the video, Belle dances, strums, jumps and frolics her way to happiness, making sure to take the audience along for the ride.
Meet the Artist
Born Kate Douglass in a small Australian town, she took the stage name Belle after moving to New York in 2009 to inspire other women to overcome their fears and inadequacies and find beauty within themselves. "As a child, I played different instruments, but what I really wanted was to sing. Yet every time I sang, tears would well up in my eyes and I couldn't stop myself from crying," says Belle.
Belle's depth of musical delivery was witnessed on live TV in April on Manhattan's Sissy Gamache Show on MNN. "It's almost like you want to cry when you sing... It's so beautiful," said Sissy after Belle performed her song "Rain" about infidelity. "I love that because everybody's so concerned about hiding everything. But it's not about hiding, it's about showing too, I see that with you. It's very, very touching."
"Singing in public has been the greatest fear of my life, yet now, 'the show must go on!'" laughs Belle. "At every performance I'm like a kid, excited and scared all at the same time, yet so grateful to my fans and the audience for their support.
