On October 18th 2012, collections company Rapid Recovery Solution, commented on an article by Paterson Press about Paterson, New Jersey’s city government using a collection agency to the $7 million in delinquent fines that is owed to them.
According to the article by the Paterson Press, “With city government strapped for cash, Paterson officials have turned their sights on the tens of thousands of deadbeats who owe the municipal court more than $7 million in unpaid fines.” The article stated that “The City Council on Tuesday is scheduled to vote to hire a collection agency to try to recoup the money.” The article mentions “For many years, the only recourse local courts had against deadbeats was suspending their driver’s licenses or stopping them from renewing their vehicle registrations.”
Collections company, Rapid Recovery Solutions CEO John Monderine, commented on the article regarding how he thinks this tactic will be successful. “Collection agencies main focus is to get you the money that is owed to you, so using them to collect outstanding delinquent fines should be a successful plan,” says Monderine. “It seems these deadbeats are not threatened or bothered by the recourse already in place by the city government, so hopefully an agency can spark a bit of fear.”
Monderine also spoke of how a collections company such as Rapid Recovery Solution would help in such a scenario as this. “We us an expert method to rapid debt collection, along with a relentless pursuit in an attempt to get you your money as quickly as possible,” said Monderine. “We also let our clients know what is going on with everything we are doing with monthly updates.”
