Two industry leaders on opposite sides of the Atlantic have teamed up to provide customers with a new set of device connectivity options for storage virtualization. FileTek, a global provider of large-scale data management and archive solutions, and Bridgeworks, Ltd., UK, a global design, manufacturer and provider of connectivity solutions for the data storage market, today announced that - after completing thorough integration testing - FileTek has certified the iSCSI to Fibre Channel Bridge from Bridgeworks for use with FileTek’s award-winning StorHouse storage virtualization platform. Agilesys, Inc., the Arizona-based distributor of Bridgeworks products in the Americas acted as a technical advisor during the validation process.

The EFC2200 certification extends FileTek’s leadership role by adding a next generation set of storage technology and connectivity options for StorHouse users. The innovative Bridgeworks product provides architectural alternatives for environments that include virtualized computing infrastructures and high availability requirements.

FileTek’s StorHouse allows customers to flexibly combine an unusually broad array of storage devices – including SAN, RAID, NAS, direct-attached storage, library-based tape, SSD, JBOD and others – into a unified system that is accessed as a standard (NFS or CIFS) network attached storage device (NAS). Because of its standard NAS interface, no application program interfaces are required. Users access the system in the same manner as they would access any network attached storage. Because the system integrates tape-based storage as a directly-accessible part of the system, StorHouse systems are known to commonly deliver the lowest cost per terabyte of storage of any system on the market.

"The core value of the Fibre Channel Bridge in the environment we tested is that it allowed networks based on iSCSI with access to Fibre Channel tape libraries and tape drives in a manner that – when combined with the deep error detection and recovery capabilities of FileTek StorHouse – enabled a complete storage management server to fail over ‘in flight’ while providing users with uninterrupted access to their data." commented Mark Seamans, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of FileTek. "Bridgework’s iSCSI Bridge – and its ability to operate within a VMWare® VMotion™ environment - was a key component in this highly-available configuration.”

David Trossell, CEO at Bridgeworks, UK adds, “We’re very pleased to be involved with FileTek. This is a perfect example of how we can bring our 30 years of experience in connecting storage to provide a solution that can not only retains an organization’s investment in their existing storage infrastructure but also to enhances its functionality and availability.”

Agilesys CEO, Jan Belt commented, “As a value-added distributor and global solutions provider, we’re excited to see two leading companies, FileTek and Bridgeworks, partner to help customers succeed. The volume of stored data has exploded in recent years – and more than ever - companies require immediate and continuous access to their data.”
