During the four-day event, Saks Fifth Avenue will donate two percent of sales – up to $500,000 – to national cancer charities such as The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cleveland Clinic and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Jupiter, Fla. (PRWEB) October 16, 2012
Saks Fifth Avenue in The Gardens Mall will kick off its annual Key to the Cure fundraiser Oct. 17 with a private reception featuring live music, food stations and cocktail booths throughout the two-level luxury department store.
The event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and will help raise money for the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation – specifically the Kristin Hoke Breast Health Program. The nationally accredited program provides patients with technologically advanced screenings, accurate diagnoses and effective treatment regimens.
Among the local restaurants participating in Key to the Cure are Coolinary Café, a culinary hotspot in Donald Ross Villages close to the homes in Evergrene, and DD’s Cupcake Shoppe, a bakery next to the riverfront homes in Jupiter.
Other establishment bringing their fare to the event include III Forks Prime Steakhouse in Palm Beach Gardens, 3800 Ocean in Palm Beach, Brio Tuscan Grille at The Gardens Mall, Buddha Sky Bar in Delray Beach, Café Chardonnay in Gardens Square, Cantina Laredo in Midtown at the Gardens, Cha Cha’s on Worth Avenue, and Guanabanas in Jupiter, an outdoor oasis on a beautiful piece of Loxahatchee River real estate.
The 2012 Key to the Cure charity shopping event takes place Oct. 18 through 21 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Waterfront Properties and Club Communities Realtors are strong supporters of the cause and recently participated in a fishing tournament that raised money for two Palm Beach County cancer organizations – Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope and Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper.
During the four-day event, Saks Fifth Avenue will donate two percent of sales – up to $500,000 – to national cancer charities such as The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cleveland Clinic and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Additionally, the store is selling a special Key to the Cure T-shirt for $35 and will donate 100 percent of those proceeds to the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation.
Local chairwomen of Key to the Cure are cancer survivor Martha Gillespie-Beeman and WRMF-FM’s Jennifer Ross. National ambassador to Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure is actress Penelope Cruz, a member of the Entertainment Industry Foundation Women’s Cancer Research Fund. While Cruz will not be in attendance Oct. 18, she will appear in public-service announcements promoting the event, which is taking place at Saks Fifth Avenue stores all over the country. She’s wearing the Carolina Herrera-designed T-shirt in the commercials.
