L2 Federal Resources to Host Webinar, 'Preparing for the New Human Trafficking FAR Regulations'

Share Article

This course is a must for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and attorneys that work on federal government projects.

Julie Myers Wood, former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the Bush Administration, will provide an overview of the pertinent components of the Executive Order that will be applied to contractors and their subcontractors.

On September 25, 2012, President Obama signed the Executive Order-Strengthening Protections Against Trafficking in Persons in Federal Contracts, mandating that federal government contractors take on more to ensure that their companies are assisting in the battle against human trafficking both within their own ranks and also within their supply chains. Like California’s 2010 Transparency in Supply Chains Act, which took effect in January 2012, certain businesses must establish internal standards and assurance programs, employee education and training programs, and assessments and monitoring of subcontractors and external businesses in their supply chain to combat the scourge of human trafficking. In the ensuing months, while the Administrator for Federal Procurement Policy and the Chief Acquisition Officers for federal agencies work on the implementation of this order, there is much that federal contractors can do to prepare for the rules to be propagated.

The 90-minute webinar, entitled “Preparing for the New Human Trafficking FAR Regulations" is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, at 1:00 PM Eastern.
