Headquartered in the entertainment capital of the world, UNIVERSITY of ROCK (UROCK for short) has launched a concert program that is set out to fulfill every kids fantasy of what it's truly like to be a Rockstar.
This past summer, the hip music school rented out the entire top floor of The Federal Bar in North Hollywood for a whole afternoon to mark the launch of their first ever concert program RockShow.
The concert incorporated:
"We wanted to take a traditional recital format and put it on steroids", said 24 year old UROCK Founder/CEO Jon Kim. "Our brand is all about going over the top and to get people talking about their experience with us. I had parents tell me after the concert that this was one of the biggest highlights of their kids life. Having a kid that's a total beginner go from his bedroom to playing a concert in front of almost a hundred people is not only a huge confidence builder, but an experience he'll treasure for a lifetime."
Having started in Jon Kim's studio apartment in 2009, the UNIVERSITY of ROCK specializes in teaching kids/teens ages 5-18 offering private in-home lessons in guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals. UROCK currently operates 6 branches along the westcoast alongside an international branch in South Korea. The school, known for their highly personalized in-home lessons and RockShow concert program has grown almost entirely by word of mouth with hardly any money spent on advertising.
While most music schools take a traditional approach to teaching, UROCK focuses on making lessons as fun and interactive as possible by incorporating their trademark ROCK Curriculum into lessons.
