Hair Restoration Institute of DFW (http://www.dfwhairloss.com), a full service treatment center helping those with mild to significant hair loss, today announced that it has partnered with Wigs for Kids, a nonprofit organization founded over 30 years ago and based in Westlake, Ohio. Wigs for Kids provides custom wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families.

Hair Restoration Institute (HRI) of DFW is now a Certified Service Provider for Wigs for Kids and will provide on-site services to children in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The wigs provided through the nonprofit organization are custom-made, fit and styled. HRI of DFW will work with children and their families to measure and provide a fitting for the child’s head, help them select a color and style, cut and style their new hairpiece and teach them how to care for their wig. All services to qualifying children will be provided at no charge.

“We are honored and thrilled to bring the Wigs for Kids organization to children in the Fort Worth area,” said Shelly Beatty, owner of Hair Restoration Institute of DFW. “These are high quality, custom wigs provided at no cost to qualifying children. We can’t think of a more worthy and fitting nonprofit to partner with! No child should have to suffer teasing or self-esteem issues due to hair loss as they face medical issues.”

Each wig is custom-made, hand-tied and made completely from human hair (approximately 150,000 strands of hair per wig) and ranges in value from $1,500 to $3,000. To develop the hairpieces, Wigs for Kids worked with doctors and prosthetics specialists to create wigs that would withstand typical kid behavior and will look like regular hair, even when wet.

“Unless a child wants a different look, we make sure each wig looks just like a child's own hair,” said Beatty.

For children in need of hair, please call Hair Restoration Institute of DFW at 817.882.8288 to obtain an application form. An application must be filled out for each child and will be reviewed by Wigs for Kids for acceptance. HRI of DFW is located in Fort Worth at 1201 West Lancaster Avenue.
