Opus Energy Shortlisted for Company of the Year Award

Opus Energy has been shortlisted at next month’s Growing Business Awards, which rewards world-class independent UK companies.

The Growing Business Awards are an established recognition of the UK's most innovative growing businesses. Results will be decided by a panel of judges, and announced at a gala awards dinner at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, on November 27th.

The shortlisting of Opus Energy in the Company of the Year category follows a recent announcement from the company that it has jumped 57 places in this year’s Sunday Times Top Track and, to meet growing demand, will be creating 100 new jobs across its Oxford and Northampton offices during the next year. The roles will, in part, be filled by new candidates on its NVQ Apprenticeship Scheme.

Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director of Opus Energy, commented: “Operating in a sector that’s dominated by six giant energy companies, we feel that recognition of our achievements is well-deserved. By offering a real alternative to business energy buyers, we’ve seen continued growth over the last 10 years with our turnover increasing for 2011/12 by 38% to £272 million.”

The Growing Business Awards were launched in 1999 by Real Business, the UK's first magazine for entrepreneurs and growing businesses, and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the UK's top business lobbying organisation. It is currently run in association with Lloyds Bank, rewarding entrepreneurial skill and exceptional business acumen.
