Lives are saved and history shaped every day thanks to the super-human feats executed by elite units of the U.S. military, says J. L. Narmi, author of “SEAL Team 6, bin Laden and Beyond,” (http://www.narminovels.com).
“These guys and their families build their lives around the top-secret missions they are tasked with,” says Narmi, who is donating the proceeds from his book sales to veterans’ charities. “The men and women of our military protect us, allowing our leaders to carry out diplomatic missions while carrying a big stick.”
His novel is a fictional account of SEAL Team 6, the team that took out Osama bin Laden. Geno Genelli, having led the “takeout mission” against bin Laden, is called upon for an assignment deemed more treacherous than any the SEAL leader has ever experienced. Terrorists, under the guidance of Imran Ali Hamza, are planning an attack on the royal family of Saudi Arabia.
The mission becomes more crucial, however, when the terrorists seize the royal palace, and Secretary of State Kathryn Kurtz is taken hostage.
In his debut novel, Narmi expertly unifies real-world events, such as 9/11 and the failed Operation Eagle Claw during the Carter presidency, with the fictional characters and narrative.
“Narmi's style strikes a good balance between a Clancy-esque techno novel and a Ludlum-ish suspense thriller,” writes Amazon reviewer kindlejoe. “He has just enough of the military lingo/facts/figures to be realistic but does not get so bogged down in the technology that he misses the story.
“Even with a large cast, Narmi is able to develop his leads into everyday believable characters – characters that could have been the guys you sat next to in study hall. Narmi's characters have and share their real emotions, which add a profound sense of being in the middle of the action for the reader. You can't escape the grit of the mission and nearly feel the bullets whizzing by you during the captivating battle scenes.”
