The parent group behind brands such as Costa Coffee and Premier Inn, Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, are delighted to announce that it has chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as its new charity partner.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is the country’s leading centre for treating sick children, with the widest range of specialists under one roof. With the UCL Institute of Child Health, they are the largest centre for paediatric research outside North America and play a key role in training children’s health specialists for the future.
Whitbread PLC, whose complete range of brands include Costa Coffee, Premier Inn, Beefeater Grill, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Taybarns, has decided to select the hospital charity as its long term adopted charity of choice. The decision was made through a team member vote, which took place last month.
The charity needs to raise £50 million every year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. The generous donations received help provide world class care to very ill children and their families.
Great Ormond Street Hospital is in the process of redeveloping and replacing some of its oldest clinical buildings so that families can benefit from world class care in 21st century facilities and have more space to be together at the bedside. Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants is hoping to raise a significant sum of money that will support the hospital in achieving these aspirations.
Fundraising activities are likely to include employee fundraising, sales promotions and customer engagement initiatives.
Patrick Dempsey, Managing Director of Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “We’re delighted to be embarking on a new multi-million pound charity partnership with such an important charity. I was personally moved by the hard work and dedication of staff at the hospital during a recent visit and am looking forward to the money we raise over the next few years helping the hospital to treat more sick children from all over the UK in improved facilities.”
Previously Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants supported WaterAid and, with the help of team members, suppliers and customers, raised £1.3 million for the charity.
