Crowds Anticipated for Greater Chicago Antique Postcard & Paper Americana Show and Sale Set For Nov. 2-3 in Countryside, Ill.

This semi-annual postcard show, now in its 21st year and produced by Courthouse Square Antique Postcards, is one of the nation's largest, involving buyers and sellers bringing millions of antique postcards for sale, as well as buying collections and accumulations.

Organizers are anticipating hundreds of attendees over a two-day period when the Greater Chicago Antique Postcard & Paper Americana Show and Sale gets underway in Countryside Ill., Friday and Saturday, Nov 2-3.

In its 21st year, this show offers vintage to modern collectible postcards for sale in all price ranges.

Sellers and buyers are coming from across the U.S., Canada and Europe; as well as dealers/vendors with over 100 tables of material for sale. Lots of original historical photos and printed images of all states, and many foreign countries, and 1000's of other topicals, Halloween, Hold to Light, Santas, artist-signed postcards and other historical paper memorabilia and ephemera are set for sale. Numerous boxes of inexpensive cards are also available.

"We look forward to bringing a diverse group of postcard sellers and buyers together in Countryside twice a year," said Jim Taylor, show producer and owner of Courthouse Square Antique Postcards.

Show highlights include hourly drawings for gift certificates; free appraisals-time permitting, and free hobby magazines. Barr's Postcard News issues are available while supplies last, with representatives of Barr's Postcard News there to provide additional information about their publication. Also on hand are representatives of Curt Teich Archives, Lake County Discovery Museum, showing and discussing their exhibits and collections.

Archival postcard storage and exhibit supplies and reference volumes are available for purchase.

"Our vendors bring quality collections and accumulations for their collector customers, and are always looking to give free appraisals, time permitting, to collections and accumulations brought in from the area," said Taylor. "Several large collections have been appraised and sold at this show in recent years. Our expert appraisers look forward to seeing new material here year after year.

"Noted postcard book author, Susan Brown Nicholson, will be available for appraisals as well as signing her Encyclopedia of Antique Postcards book. She has appeared on numerous national network and cable television shows, and is an internationally recognized expert in the field of postcards, postcard art, and publishers."

This semi-annual postcard show is one of the nation's largest, involving buyers and sellers bringing millions of antique postcards for sale, as well as buying collections and accumulations, and giving free appraisals of most all vintage postcards, old photographs, and paper ephemera. The top dealers and collectors of historical view postcards, artist-signed images, topics, posters, and photographs are expected to attend.

"Early bird" admission is available at 9:00 a.m., Friday for $20 and covers both days. Regular admission is $5 for both days. Show times are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday, Nov 2, and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov 3.

The show is scheduled for Engineer's Hall (Local 150 IUOE), 6200 Joliet Road, Countryside IL 60525. Free parking with easy access, is available from Joliet Road, Countryside, just off I-55.

Host hotels are Best Western Countryside, and Holiday Inn-Countryside, directly across Joliet Road from the show venue.
