Veterans Advantage today announced underwriting support for free VetRewards Cards powered by Veterans Advantage, to recognize veterans and their families in and around New York City throughout Veterans Week NYC 2012.

The launch of Veterans Week NYC 2012, the first-ever comprehensive week of events dedicated to honoring our nation’s veterans and active duty military personnel, was announced on the deck of the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in midtown New York City. Founders of the initiative also named Veterans Advantage’s VetRewards Card “The Official Card of Veterans Week NYC 2012” with access to thousands of veteran benefits and discounts across New York City’s Tri-State region and nationally.

“We are grateful to our partners in supporting free card distributions which provide access to our platform of benefits and discounts for Veterans Week NYC 2012,” said H. Scott Higgins, Veterans Advantage Founder and CEO, and a Vietnam Veteran.

Veterans Advantage provides special retail and travel discounts to veterans and their families through its VetRewards Card program. These discounts include major national brands with New York City retail store locations for savings with the card, such as Verizon Wireless, Apple, United Airlines, Amtrak, Greyhound, Footlocker, Ford, all Choice Hotel brands, all major car rental companies, including Avis / Budget, as well as savings and discounts at NYC entertainment, shopping and sports venues.

The free VetRewards Cards, available at http://www.VeteransWeekNYC.org, are made possible in part by presenting sponsor GE, Citi, Foot Locker, Tudor Investments, HBO, Avis/Budget Group and the City University of New York (CUNY). Citi and CUNY are dedicating their efforts to make free VetRewards Cards available to student veterans at colleges and universities in and around New York City. These sponsors join the USO, Google, the United War Veterans Council, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, and 1800flowers in support of Veterans Week NYC 2012.

Veterans Week NYC 2012 will run from November 7th through November 14th. The free VetRewards Card will be valid for the entire month of November. Active Duty Military, Veterans, National Guard and Reserve and their family members can start enrolling for the card and receive updated information on the events surrounding the week at http://www.VeteransWeekNYC.org.
