Veterans Advantage and its VetRewards Card bring a best-in-class group of benefits to equal the greatness that defines New York.

In an unprecedented joint announcement among Veterans, leaders in military service organizations, and Corporate America, Veterans Advantage’s VetRewards Card was named “The Official Card of Veterans Week NYC 2012” with access to thousands of deals and discounts across the New York City Tri-State area and nationally.

Veterans Advantage Founder and CEO H. Scott Higgins, hailed the announcement of the official card status as an important milestone in its efforts over the past decade to distribute special benefits to those who serve the nation, including Active Duty Military, Veterans, National Guard, Reservists and their families.

“Veterans Advantage believes that ‘every day needs to be Veterans Day’ to recognize the service and sacrifices of our veterans and we feel there’s no greater place to demonstrate that commitment than in New York City, the site of our nation’s largest Veterans Day Parade,” Higgins said. “We have a robust package of benefits in New York, as we do nationwide,” he added.

“It is time to honor those who serve,” added Higgins.

The launch of Veterans Week NYC 2012, the first-ever comprehensive week of events dedicated to honoring and celebrating our nation’s veterans and active duty military personnel, was announced today on the deck of the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in midtown New York City.

To mark the occasion, founders, sponsors and hosts, including the presenting sponsor, General Electric, along with hundreds of veterans, gathered to officially announce the effort to honor and thank the people who have defended our country. These include Citi, Google, the USO, Veterans Advantage, Ford, Foot Locker, HBO, Tudor Investments, Avis/Budget Group, 1800Flowers, the City University of New York (CUNY), the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, the United War Veterans Council and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Thousands of free VetRewards Cards have been underwritten for students and veterans by the sponsors in and around the city, and more will be made available free throughout the month from the destination website commemorating the week: http://www.VeteransWeekNYC.org.

“We are honored to have the VetRewards Card as our official event card,” said Gerry Byrne, a Marine and Vietnam Veteran, and Chairman of Veterans Week. “Veterans Advantage and its VetRewards Card bring a best-in-class group of benefits to equal the greatness that defines New York.”

Veterans Week NYC 2012 is scheduled to run from November 7th through November 14th. With the Veterans Day Parade as its centerpiece, the week features a multitude of events including seminars, forums, concerts, tours, screenings and special benefit galas, highlighting the importance of supporting America’s veterans and honoring their service.
