AdvisorsMD, a full-service healthcare consulting firm, has released the web-based application MDreferralPRO for use throughout the United States. The product is used by hospitals and physician practices to identify and grow referrals from other healthcare providers.

Through the use of predictive analytics, MDreferralPRO provides actionable network intelligence to target the sources most likely to refer patients to a healthcare facility.

MDreferralPRO reduces dependence on printed reports by providing physicians and administrators with an at-a-glance dashboard to view the organization’s referral development performance. The program provides viewpoints that allow an administrator to evaluate the performance of an entire organization, analyze referral patterns in affiliated physician practices, and drill-down to individual providers and service lines within those facilities.

Unlike traditional Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools that rely on historical data, MDreferralPRO provides real-time information that allows clients to focus their business development efforts on defined markets, target specialties, and payers.

“As a healthcare administrator, I saw a glaring need for a software application that could show me the untapped referral sources in a specific market and guide me through the referral development process. When I realized there were no programs in the market that truly suited the needs of my healthcare organizations, I began laying the foundation for a web-based solution,” said AdvisorsMD Principal Bricken McKenzie, MBA, FACMPE, FACHE.

MDreferralPRO’s test site was Mobile, AL-based Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic (AOC). AOC’s five clinics serve patients in three states. AOC employs 20 orthopaedic specialists focusing on orthopaedic surgery, radiology, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation.

AOC’s Chief Executive Officer Dean Brown said, “Over seventy percent of our new patients come from provider referrals. Before we started using MDreferralPRO, I thought I knew where our untapped referral sources were in the market. But in the first month of using the program, I realized there were dozens of sources that I was unaware of. We were able to focus our outreach efforts in a whole new way, and we saw a record rise in new patients in the first three months of using the program,” said Brown.
