Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 19, 2012
Dallas entrepreneur William (Bill) Esping celebrated the founding of the Bill Esping Lawsuit and Fraud Support Initiative in September 2012 by donating $10,500 to seven legal aid agencies across Texas. The donations will help these agencies provide legal assistance to Texans who need civil legal help as they face poverty, disability, domestic violence, and human rights violations.
To celebrate and mark the founding of the Bill Esping Lawsuit and Fraud Support Initiative in September 2012, Mr. Esping and the initiative donated to award-winning agencies that were selected for their ability to meet the legal needs of at-risk populations. The recipients include: Aid to Victims of Domestic Violence, Disability Rights Texas, Disability Rights Texas, Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, Lone Star Legal Aid, Texas Access to Justice Foundation, and Texas Legal Services Center.
Mr. Esping founded the Bill Esping Lawsuit and Fraud Support Initiative in response to the lack of adequate legal help for the needy. “There is a growing ‘justice gap’ in the United States,” stated the Bill Esping Lawsuit and Fraud Support Initiative. “The inability to access appropriate judicial resources is one of the biggest drivers of systemic poverty in North Texas and nationwide. We will help organizations that are working to close the justice gap.” Mr. Esping adds, “Through this initiative we attack the root, not the fruit, of poverty.”
Recent restrictions on government spending have decreased the funding these agencies receive. With millions of citizens across Texans at or below the poverty line, half of those who come for legal assistance are turned away. By funding these legal aid agencies, Bill Esping makes it possible for more people to get the legal help they need.
The seven chosen agencies provide free legal counsel and representation to millions of eligible clients at or near the poverty line or whose rights have been violated. They primarily give aid in civil legal matters, including family law, consumer fraud, and employment rights. The agencies educate individuals and families about their legal rights through online resources, telephone hotlines, and community seminars. Many also provide personal services to stabilize refugees and victims of domestic violence.
