Acclaro, a New York-based translation and localization company, will co-present with client Breastcancer.org at this year’s Localization World Conference. Rachel Ferris, director of operations for Acclaro, and Yannick Nelson, consultant for Breastcancer.org, will speak on behalf of the two companies, presenting the following seminar: “Translating Medically Accurate Information with Compassion and Cultural Relevance”.

Ferris and Nelson will explore the website translation projects that Acclaro has managed for Breastcancer.org, shedding light on the secret ingredients behind their fruitful partnership and successful project launch. Some of the points that they will touch on include selecting the right translation partner, honing in on target languages and strategically prioritizing web content translation. They will also share translation best practices and establish a clear business case for localization.

“I’m excited to present this success story alongside Yannick Nelson,” comments Rachel Ferris of Acclaro. “Partnering with Breastcancer.org has been a tremendous experience, from the quality of the relationships we’ve built and the work we’ve completed to the cause that underlies these efforts. We wholeheartedly believe in Breastcancer.org’s mission and are thrilled to help them reach more women and their loved ones through Spanish localization.”

“Through our partnership with Acclaro, Breastcancer.org can offer this vast online resource to the Spanish-speaking population,” says Hope Wohl, Breastcancer.org CEO. “It’s critical to our mission that we reach the underserved Hispanic population with the support and medically vetted information about breast health and breast cancer they need now.”

One of the challenges that Breastcancer.org faced early on in the localization process was selecting the variety of Spanish that would be most appropriate for their target audience. The goal was for the content to serve a broad audience, including Spanish-speakers in Spain, Central and Latin America, while remaining medically accurate and highly relevant for U.S. Hispanics. Ferris and Nelson will explain how Acclaro and Breastcancer.org navigated these linguistic decisions and achieved their objectives for the Spanish website.

Localization World 2012 brings together more than 600 attendees, including top vendors and experts from around the world who will share their knowledge of how companies can succeed internationally and also reach multicultural and multiethnic audiences within their home countries. Acclaro is exhibiting at Booth 8 in the expo hall. Sales and operations staff will be available to meet with attendees and discuss the broad range of translation and localization services that the agency provides.
