“Amassing a property with acreage of this magnitude in a sought-after equestrian community can take decades of planning. But the lucky bidders on auction day will be able to enjoy their new equestrian estate immediately,” stated Scott Kirk.

Grand Estates Auction, the industry leader for luxury real estate auctions, is offering six luxury equestrian estate parcels in North Carolina for auction in only two days. The Southern C’s, a 321-acre compound, in Summerfield, N.C. will be sold as three separate parcels on Wed., Nov. 14, 2012. Youngs Road Farm in Southern Pines, N.C. will be sold as two parcels on Thurs., Nov. 15, 2012. Hours later, The Hilltop Farm also in Southern Pines, N.C. will be auctioned as one property. Dividing the expansive properties into parcels allows buyers the opportunity to customize their equestrian experience – from a 52-acre luxurious estate with barns, paddocks and riding trails, to a larger compound encompassing up to 321 acres.
Both Summerfield and Southern Pines are sought-after locations due to their highly active equestrian communities offering small-town charm and acres of pasture and wooded rolling hills. While these towns feel secluded, they are only a quick drive to Greensboro, The Triad, Charlotte, and Raleigh. The beach and mountains are only a few short hours away.
“An opportunity like this does not come around often,” stated Scott Kirk, Grand Estates Auction Company executive vice-president. “Amassing a property with acreage of this magnitude in a sought-after equestrian community can take decades of planning. But the lucky bidders on auction day will be able to enjoy their new equestrian estate immediately.”
Auction is quickly becoming a preferred method for selling real estate around the world, especially for unique offerings, due to the timeliness and transparency of the process. There are no contingencies, no lengthy negotiations, and timelines for closing are pre-established. Similar to rare artwork that does not have comparable pieces to set the value, exceptional properties are well-suited for auction, where bidders set the market value.
The Southern C’s, featuring a 15-acre lake, 26 buildings, and more, will be divided into three parcels. The first parcel, The Southern C’s Farm, will be sold absolute, meaning there is no minimum or reserve, and includes a two-story, four-bedroom, four-bath home designed in the arts and crafts architectural style situated on 77 acres. Additionally included are an 1820’s Appalachian poplar Log Cabin furnished with period pieces, the Caretaker’s home, dog kennels, riding ring and horse stable. The second parcel, also to be sold absolute, is The Huntbox Farm, which includes a four-bedroom house, a horse barn, paddocks, and a guesthouse on 52 acres. Lastly, is the 191-acre Pine Plantation featuring an original 1800’s log cabin and 3,600-square-foot hay barn.
Youngs Road Farm will be sold as two 17-acre parcels via the Bidder’s Choice method, where one of the parcels will be sold absolute as determined by the bidder. The first parcel features a nearly new three-bedroom, three-bathroom, two powder room home boasting a gourmet kitchen with travertine marble, tumbled limestone, granite and luxury finishes. The living room showcases antique reclaimed ship’s plank white oak floor and an18-foot window displaying the view of lush green paddocks. The second parcel includes a six-stall brick barn with heat lamps, built-in grooming cabinets in each stall, and a second-story 1,800-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom living space.
Hilltop Farm in Southern Pines, a three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath luxury Zenke-designed, fully furnished home set amid 24-acres of wooded property and rolling paddocks, will be offered at absolute auction. The property features an eight-stall hunt barn with caretaker’s apartment, a freestanding two-car garage, a shavings storage house with sliding roof, and a two-bay carriage storage.
The Southern C’s Compound auction will start at 2:00 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 14th; the Youngs Road Farm auction will start at 12:00 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 15th; and The Hilltop Farm auction will start at 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 15th. All three properties will be available for prospective bidders to view beginning Sat., Nov. 10th at 11:00 a.m. A $100,000.00 certified check or personal check with a bank letter of guarantee is required to register to bid. Buyers interested in bidding on more than one of the properties can transfer the $100,000 to another auction, provided funds are not being used as a deposit on a purchase.
