Developing next generation Waste Conversion Technology

Robinson Group, LLC announced today that it has recently acquired assets of Applied Filter Technology (AFT) of Bothell, Washington, a recognized leader in the biogas-to-energy market. The technology asset acquisition is expected to extend Robinson Group’s (RG) biogas solutions and assist customers and partners with the adoption of next-generation waste conversion technology and best practices. This acquisition will put RG in a leadership position in the biogas conditioning market and significantly assist in the company’s mission to develop regenerative closed-loop biogas solutions.

“AFT’s biogas technology solutions pioneered the biogas industry and presented the opportunity for Robinson Group to serve an important role in helping the industry improve on next generation biogas technologies,” said Tim Robinson, CEO. “Our vision is to extend beyond the AFT technology offerings and develop regenerative closed-loop biomass solutions for those customers who are looking to maximize the potential of biogas resources.”

The economics of Biogas have dramatically improved over the last few years from advances in conditioning technology, better business models and a general maturation of the market. Today, gas streams with very high sulfur content and very high siloxane levels that would have made these projects unattractive just a few years ago can now be conditioned. This combined with a more flexible business model make waste conversion technology an exciting market to be in.

“A new era of technology convergence is transforming the energy industry and the AFT technologies we acquired will help us deliver on our strategy to deliver innovative technology solutions for the biogas energy industry. In the coming months we’ll be rolling out new technologies for customers interested in lower cost sulfur removal, lower cost siloxane removal and regenerative closed-loop biogas-to-energy systems,” Mr. Robinson concluded.

About Applied Filter Technology
Since 1996, Applied Filter Technology has been the market leader in biogas conditioning. AFT has led the industry in siloxane removal and sulfur removal technologies and is the only player in the market that will guarantee the gas quality of its systems for up to 10 years. This combined with a huge install base and sales pipeline makes AFT a strong leader in the biogas market.
