In light of Crime Prevention Month and Celebrate Safe Communities (CSC), the National Crime Prevention Council will host Crystal City Cybersafety Day for local residents, businesses and visitors to the Crystal City, VA., area Oct. 23, 2012. NCPC President and CEO Ann M. Harkins will keynote a press conference from noon – 12:30 p.m. highlighting the increasing importance of crime prevention partnerships in a time of increasing budget cuts. Accompanying Harkins will be Suzanne Spaulding, Deputy Under Secretary, Department of Homeland Security and Michael Kortan, Assistant Director of the Office of Public Affairs, Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The event, which will take place 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. will focus on the importance of and best practices for cybersafety. Each partner will have a booth with available free resources, and NCPC will showcase new CSC video vignettes. Attendees are encouraged to take pictures with McGruff the Crime Dog who will be attending as well.
