New Online Community Celebrates Stories Shared Socially in a Global Network

Today Storylane—the new social platform that connects people around the world through storytelling—launches in Palo Alto, CA. Created by Jonathan Gheller, founder of Fashmatch and other successful start-ups, Storylane is free and available to users worldwide at http://www.storylane.com.

Storylane is an open community where people of all ages, all over the world, can share things that really matter to them. The site works as a blogging platform built socially from the ground up to facilitate sharing meaningful stories through writing, images, and audio.

“Our dream is to create an archive of experiences—built with the stories of dreamers, makers, and writers from all walks of life—that will inspire connection with what makes us human and invoke thought,” said Jonathan Gheller, founder of Storylane. “We think people's lives are fundamentally interesting and that this platform provides a meaningful way to stay connected with people you know and also meet new people.”

With verticals for technology, fashion, politics, science, pets and more, the site offers a rich platform that inspires users to share and offers thought-provoking prompts to help them get started telling their own stories.

Storylane offers an intuitive layout that allows for easy navigation to search and browse through the site’s rich archive of content and find and follow other users with similar interests. The simple layout allows new users easily to build a profile and get started with sharing their own experiences, interests and passions. Storylane integrates seamlessly with Facebook and Twitter so that new users can automatically follow friends.

“We want to go beyond the surface of everyday interactions and status updates to uncover and facilitate the kind of content that reveals the true nature of people, places, things and events,” added Gheller. “Come to the site to write about why you decided to become a journalist; what it was like to be at the fall of the Berlin Wall; where you stand politically; or how you discovered a new passion in life.”

With an already rich archive of stories from around the globe, Storylane plans to launch a Spanish language version of the site later this month, followed by other languages later this year.
