Marketing and design agency Atomicdust has debuted its branding and design work for Pastaria, the new St. Louis restaurant from three-time James Beard Award nominee Gerard Craft. Pastaria is rapidly earning accolades for its accessible but unconventional Italian menu and fun, family-oriented atmosphere.
“Gerard wanted to build a friendly restaurant where kids, adults, and food enthusiasts could all feel comfortable and enjoy a great meal,” said Mike Spakowski, creative director for Atomicdust. “We wanted our designs to reflect the balance of sophistication and fun.”
Atomicdust’s branding work reflects the restaurant’s unpretentious attitude. Pastaria’s logo uses a hand-drawn, pasta-like script, custom-designed by the agency. The bright and whimsical concept is further expressed with youthful illustrations, including a three-wheeled delivery truck, children eagerly feasting on noodles wrapped around oversized forks, and anthropomorphized noodles (with names like Gustavo Garganelli and Roberto Rigatoni).
Materials created for Pastaria’s opening included menus for adults and children, to-go pizza boxes, stickers, t-shirts, olive oil labels, and wooden nickels that could be traded for gelato. Atomicdust also designed Pastaria’s website, optimized for viewing on iPads and mobile devices.
Atomicdust’s work can be found at Pastaria’s location on the first floor of the Centene building at 7734 Forsyth Boulevard in Clayton, Missouri.
Atomicdust is an agency that works with businesses to focus and maintain their brand through design, marketing, and the web.
