We wanted to create an affordable and easy-to-use solution to meet the needs of the next PTI milestone...And it was important that our clients could use this program in tandem with any PTI system.

VirtualOne, developer of FreshQC™ and other produce traceability systems, has released a new innovation in PTI technology: an updated and very easy-to-use Hybrid Pallet Tag system. VirtualOne known in the produce industry for their data collection software and PTI technology, FreshQC™, has developed a way for companies to print Hybrid Pallet Tags – no matter the PTI software being used.
The next milestone in PTI Best Practices is to achieve pallet tags that include a barcode line for each GTIN LOT on a pallet. Existing solutions are more involved and integrated into a larger software program. However, VirtualOne has developed a stand-alone way to scan and print tags at an affordable price and in a way that can be used in conjunction with any existing PTI system.
“We wanted to create an affordable and easy-to-use solution to meet the needs of the next PTI milestone,” said Minor Bolanos, Co-Founder and Chief Product Developer of VirtualOne. “And it was important that our clients could use this program in tandem with any PTI system.”
Hybrid Pallet Tags provide a central location for all data regarding a specific pallet. When items are shipped from a warehouse or cooler, the pallet isn’t necessarily comprised of the same lot code. This solution gathers a list of all products and lots from a standard GS1-128 PTI label and generates the Hybrid Pallet Tag with all the necessary attributes to then be printed and applied to the pallet. The unique advantage of the VirtualOne Hybrid Pallet Tag solution is the process of printing labels on site, in real-time using a handheld scanner/data collector and belt printer. With this solution, the process of loading and shipping product is not disrupted by printing labels off-site or having to use a pre-printed label solution.
Some retailers, including Food Lion, recently announced to suppliers they will require hybrid pallet tags on incoming shipments.
With this new Hybrid Pallet Tag system, VirtualOne has further asserted itself as a leader in produce traceability innovation, by responding to the challenges faced by the produce industry and developing technologies to meet these challenges.
