Staten Island, NY (PRWEB) October 24, 2012
CollegeBound Cares, the philanthropic arm of The CollegeBound Network, officially launches today with the start of its CollegeBound Cares Food Drive. Through November 16th, employees from each of the education marketing publisher’s Staten Island-based offices will be donating and collecting canned food and other non-perishable items and delivering them to Staten Island’s Project Hospitality and the food pantry at Monmouth Worship Center in Marlboro, NJ.
Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted at The CollegeBound Network headquarters at 1200 South Avenue, Staten Island, NY 103014, as well as its Student Services location at Corporate Commons Two, 2 Teleport Drive, Staten Island, NY 10314. The Nicotra Group, which manages these properties, will be serving as a supporting sponsor of the event.
CollegeBound Cares was created to mark The CollegeBound Network’s 25th year as a resource to consumers interested in furthering their education. Over the past two decades, the company’s spirit of goodwill has extended behind the scenes to organizations such as the Hudson Guild and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Since 2006, CBN has donated more than 2,000 toys to the Hudson Guild, a multi-service community center serving those who live, work, or go to school in Chelsea, NY. Additionally, the CBN team was the largest corporate contributor on Staten Island to the LLS’ Light The Night Walk in 2011 and has collectively raised more than $57,000 for the charity since 2009. CollegeBound Cares will involve CBN’s employees, partners, and the surrounding community in a variety of charity-driven ventures throughout the year.
“CollegeBound Cares offers an official opportunity for our company to build upon The CollegeBound Network team’s interest and passion for charitable endeavors, which we’ve pursued since our start in 1987,” explains Luciano Rammairone, CBN’s president and chairman. “We’re excited to leverage our staff’s enthusiasm and giving toward projects that can benefit our community.”
The CollegeBound Cares food drive couldn’t come at a better time, says Deacon Paul Kosinski, director of community outreach of Project Hospitality. “The need for food donations is greater now than at any other time in our 30-year history. People are lining up hours in advance prior to our food pantries’ opening. They want to make sure they don’t miss out on the distribution. The ability of local families to put a nutritious meal on their table has grown increasingly difficult. We are trying to keep up with the demand.”
Barbara Berman, the food pantry ministry leader at Monmouth Worship Center, agrees. “Our food pantry serves about 200 families a month, so we are excited to partner with CollegeBound Cares on the wonderful initiative. We are blessed to have CollegeBound in our corner this holiday season.”
