The Power to Invest Workshop, hosted by The Entrust Group, proved to be successful in educating attendees about using self-directed IRAs to invest in private placements, and conducting the due diligence necessary to avoid fraudulent opportunities.
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) October 23, 2012
With reports of inflation and a looming pension crisis taking priority in recent news, Americans have been putting more effort into saving for retirement. Since the recent stock market crash, portfolio diversification has become an increasingly important source of asset building, leading many to pursue the alternative investments available through a self-directed IRA. Growing interest has created a growing need for investor education, and The Entrust Group responded to this need by hosting The Power to Invest Workshop in Southern California on October 18th, 2012.
The focus of the event was private placements and due diligence, providing attendees with the education needed to invest in private companies and identify areas of risk. Hubert Bromma, CEO of The Entrust Group and industry educator, opened the event by talking about the need for retirement savings and due diligence, as well as the actual state of retirement in America. Ryan Rippy, Business Development Manager at The Entrust Group, then gave an introduction to self-directed IRAs. Next, founder and CEO of Growthink, Jay Turo, gave an in-depth presentation about the advantages of investing in private placements, including statistical observations and possible exit strategies. Turo was followed by Nicolas Morgan, partner of DLA Piper and former SEC fraud prosecutor, who provided a detailed look at recent scams, and tips on how to spot and avoid Ponzi schemes.
“The Entrust Group was founded on the principles of education. We strongly believe education is the key to successful investing,” states Bromma. “We continue to take pride in our role as educators, and we were honored to have Nicolas Morgan and Jay Turo speak at the event. The level of knowledge and experience they were able to share was impressive, and it was our pleasure to offer guests an opportunity to learn from their expertise.”
The workshop concluded with a panel discussion, giving the audience a chance to ask questions and seek additional information. Most of the questions focused on due diligence and retirement savings. Attendees were excited to learn more about diversifying their retirement portfolios using a self-directed IRA.
While 2012 marks the first occurrence of The Power to Invest Workshop, the success of the event has shown a growing demand among investors for quality education. The Entrust Group will continue to hold regular educational events to support investors in meeting their goals for portfolio diversification.
