Dallas YMCA and Capital One Bank Announce Exciting New Additions, Opportunities to Connect in the 45th Annual Dallas Turkey Trot

Participants in the annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot anticipate the biggest year yet!

Strap on your running shoes and grab your laptop! The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and Capital One Bank today announced their plans for this year’s 45th annual Turkey Trot. Named by Time Magazine as one of the “Top 5 Fun Runs to Try Now,” the Official Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot attracted nearly 40,000 participants to last year’s event, all while achieving the Guinness Book of World Record’s recognition as the most people dressed as turkeys in one location.

This year, bloggers, participants and spectators alike are invited to join Turkey Trot’s online communities on Facebook and Twitter leading up to the event for prize drawings, essential updates, and even posts from the treasured trot mascot, Tommy the Turkey!

Bloggers are also slated to receive a turkey-riffic accessory to get into a gobble-tastic mood this November.

“Last year we had a great time setting a unique record,” said Sarah Byrom, Associate Vice President of Communications at YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “This year, we’re excited to offer several new fun features to our event, which is now the largest Turkey Trot in the world.”

Features of the 2012 Dallas Turkey Trot include a new dog park where furry family members can can get their Trot on and chances to win VIP passes to the event that include hot breakfast, locker check, private restrooms and special swag bags.

The Trot includes a certified 5K, and a unique 8 mile race distance course. Again this year there is the option for all participants to be chip timed in both the 5k and 8 mile race with a $5 timing charge. Also with their race registration, participants will receive a complimentary 25 visit membership to begin Training for the Trot at a Dallas area YMCA.

Excited to join in on Dallas official Thanksgiving tradition? Here’s the info you need to know: Pre-registration is $25 until November 7th, walk in registration at Luke’s Locker November 14-21 is $30 and race day registration is $40. Trot Tot registration for children 6 and under is $15. Packet Pick-up for mail-in, on-line registration and walk-ins will continue through Wednesday, November 21st at Luke’s Locker locations in Dallas at 3046 Mockingbird Lane until 6:00p.m., in Colleyville on Colleyville Blvd and in Plano on Legacy Road until 3:00pm on Wednesday. Register your dog for $10 and receive a cool Y-Trot bandana and race bib for your 4 legged friends.
