The webinar, which took place on October 17th, was led by Tom Loch of AXIS Retirement Analytics and supported by ERISA Attorney John Sohn from The Wagner Law Group, and discussed the DOL investigation process, including the reasons for initiating an investigation, best practices prior to and during an audit and the necessary steps to achieving compliance towards regulations. They provided several recommendations to keep in mind during the process, the key takeaways being:

  •     Develop formalized procedures for all client accounts subject to ERISA that document all client information
  •     Conduct your own internal audit to ensure compliance and take measures to benchmark against industry
  •     Take all legal measures permitted during the audit, including asking to bring in ERISA counsel and performing legal review of all materials

Several webinar attendees have commented on the presentation’s “great information” and gave their “appreciation and thanks” of the support in complying with regulations. The webinar slides are available for download at: http://www.axisretirement.com/webinars.aspx
