Largest Battlefield 3 Sony Playstation-Sponsored Tournament with $3,000 in Prizes to Kick off in November

32 Battlefield 3 squads will face off against each other this November. They will compete for honor, glory, and $3,000 worth of prizes. The Kelvara Challenge is the largest clan-sponsored tournament in gaming history. While this first tournament is for PS3 only, the group promises future challenges for PC and Xbox.

The largest non-corporate event in gaming history with over $3,000 in prizes, will be taking place later this year for Sony Playstation's Battlefield 3. Known as the Battlefield 3 Kelevra Squad Deathmatach challenge, this gamer-sponsored event that also has backing from Sony, Gamer Modz, 4Processing, and Wireless Empourium. The tournament, hosted by Fragged Nation, will feature 32 teams, and sponsored prizes totaling over $3,000 in value. Members of the first-place squad will receive Turtle Beach Ear Force PX5 Wireless Headsets. Gamermodz will provide eight custom-modded PS3 controllers as first- and second-place prizes.

Sony will also contribute to the tournament with the third-place prizes (30 days of PlayStation Plus membership) and Sony swag.

The tournament is free to join. While it is currently limited to PS3 players, there are plans in the works for PC and XBOX challenges in the near future.

A total of 32 four-person teams will face off in Battlefield 3's Squad Deathmatch mode. Since the tournament is open to everyone, players will have the chance to face off against some of the best Battlefield shooters in the world. Winners of each match will then face off against winners of other matches.
