"The holiday season is the peak time for retailers," said Nick Gusatvson, Corra Group Co-Founder. "Retailers are generally looking for more basic background checks. They want to get their people up and running. "

Corra Group is preparing for the traditional third quarter hiring push for the holiday season. As businesses prepare for the expected surge in retail, dining, and in the hospitality industry, Corra Group will be ramping up to service its clients for background checks and employment screening.

“We expect hiring will be up this holiday season,” said Nick Gustavson, Co-Founder of Corra Group. “Analysts are predicting a four percent increase in retail sales, which should also translate into more people dining out and taking vacations. This means retail venues will be employing more people than they have for the past number of years as well as restaurants and destination sites.

Gustavson pointed out that many clients hire throughout the year. But during the fourth quarter, he noted two additional and distinctive hiring patterns. The first includes the retailers and the hospitality employers, and the second includes a broader spectrum of businesses that are making plans for the coming year.

“Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s, you name it. This is peak season for retailers. They are generally looking for more basic background checks. They want to get their people up and running. They tend to conduct criminal records searches and if the employment candidate will be driving for them, they also run the Motor Vehicle Driving Records.

“Employers looking to hire for the new first quarter tend to run more comprehensive background checks. Of course they will run the criminal records searches, but they will also conduct education verification and employment verification, and, increasingly, they will order civil records searches to make sure the prospective hire is not involved in any embarrassing lawsuits.”

Gustavson noted that Corra Group is a full service company and during the holiday season it can easily facilitate the surge in employment screening. Typically, most background checking reports are turned around anywhere from two to five business days.

“At Corra Group we are aware that toward the end of the year most employers are working with limited budgets and are looking to acquire services that are cost effective. Quite often, the human resources managers have run through much of their money as the unforeseen cuts into their seasonal hiring allowances.

“We work to accommodate their requirements and offer discounts so we ease concerns about their holiday hires. Retailers face enough stress in assuring they make a profit during their peak season. We try to ease some of that pressure.”

“Of course, we have clients hiring throughout the year,” said Gustavson. But during the fourth quarter, Corra Group experiences two distinct hiring practices. We have the retailers and hospitality employers in need of getting people hired and trained in time for the season. They usually want a more element
