Horsham, PA (PRWEB) October 24, 2012
Toll Brothers, the nation’s leading builder of luxury homes, recently held a collection drive at many communities nationwide to support the homeless youth of Covenant House. Covenant House provides shelter and care while supporting kids to strive for a better future. Toll Brothers homeowners and homebuyers, and the Company’s employees, contractors, and real estate community partners joined forces to gather over 400 large bags, which totaled over 10,000 articles of casual and professional clothing, during the September 2012 collection drive. These items will help the Covenant House youth in their job interviews and allow them to be self sufficient, financially independent, and have a life off the streets.
“This is just a small way that we work with our neighbors and partners to give back to those in need within our local communities,” said Chris Gaffney, Toll Brothers Group President and member of the Covenant House Board of Directors.
“Every day homeless kids come into our shelters across the country with nothing but the clothes on their backs,” said Covenant House President Kevin Ryan. “We will serve more than 61,000 kids this year and this collection drive will provide hundreds of them with professional clothes to wear on job interviews, hundreds more with clothes to wear at their new jobs, and thousands more with clothes to wear after they’ve come off the streets and into one of our Covenant House shelters,” he added.
Founded in 1972, Covenant House provides transitional housing, crisis counseling, and much more in 21 cities throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America. They provide a hearty meal, a warm bed, a safe shelter, and numerous services such as street outreach, health and medical care, high school diploma and vocational training, drug abuse treatment and prevention, mother/child services, and much more.
