Today Scopely released its latest mobile title, Bubble Galaxy With Buddies, a pioneering social game that empowers players to save lives by bringing clean drinking water to those in need. Simply by playing Bubble Galaxy With Buddies, players will help fund a water program in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa where 59 percent of the population lack access to clean, safe water. For every game a player completes with a unique friend through Facebook, one gallon of water will be donated on their behalf.

Scopely is organizing the “Games For Gallons Challenge” in partnership with charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Players can join the event from their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch by installing Bubble Galaxy free in the App Store at

“We are a socially conscious startup, and believe in creating mobile games that empower our players to be the catalysts for positive social change,” said Walter Driver, co-founder and CEO of Scopely. “With the help of charity: water we’re refurbishing two main wells in Burkina Faso, and our players keep the water flowing simply by getting new friends to experience Bubble Galaxy With Buddies.”

“There are currently eight million people on the planet without access to clean, safe water,” said Scott Harrison, founder and CEO of charity: water. “charity: water is excited to receive support from Scopely and help make a real impact in Burkina Faso. Even as a startup, they understand that it’s never too early to give back and to creatively engage their gaming audience with the urgent issue of the water crisis.”

Bubble Galaxy With Buddies adds fun new twists to the classic bubble-shooting action game. Players select from three main characters, each with unique power-ups like the Laser Sight, Meteor Bubble, Tim Vial, and Rainbow Bubble that boost scores and enhance gameplay. Every mission completed unlocks new planets to explore on the “Galaxy Map,” along with new challenges and opportunities to gain free coins and power-ups.

Challenges occur in alternating 60 second rounds and are sent to friends through SMS, Facebook, Twitter, or to random opponents. Since the game is turn-based, players can enjoy multiple games at once, and make moves on their own time. Bubble Galaxy supports optional push notifications to remind players of their turn, and features in-game messaging so opponents can chat and heckle one another. The player with the highest score after three rounds wins and gets bragging rights.

Scopely recently announced an $8.5 million funding round led by Anthem Venture Partners to expand the With Buddies franchise. Anyone playing other With Buddies games including Dice With Buddies and Jewels With Buddies can also log in to Bubble Galaxy with their existing credentials.
