Midwest City, OK (PRWEB) October 29, 2012

Regional Physical Therapy and owner Vicki Buchanan dedicated October, National Physical Therapy Month, to awarding her committed staff and hard-working patients. As a result of creating special events surrounding the celebratory month, Buchanan saw an increase in the amount of patients into her clinic. The clinic had over 900 patient visits in October, totaling 19,705 patient visits so far, year-to-date. Buchanan expects the 2012 total number of visits to exceed 2011’s total by over 3,000 patient visits. In addition to the events, Regional PT was proud to have Mayor Fry at the clinic to declare October as Physical Therapy Month in Midwest City.

With recent changes to the PT industry (due to the Medicare therapy cap and Affordable Care Act), Buchanan feels that National Physical Therapy Month is an important time to bring awareness to the benefits of different therapies, and to recognize people who make the field innovative and successful.

Events held during National Physical Therapy Month at Regional PT included:

● Patient Appreciation Night – Olympic-themed games with prizes given to participating patients. Volunteers were also acknowledged.
● Firefighter Injury Prevention Seminar – Taught local firefighters ways to help prevent injuries based on selective-functional movement assessments.
● Honors Flight Program – Vicki traveled as a medical assistant and “Guardian” for WW2 Veteran in Washington, D.C.
● Patient Movie Night – Patients enjoyed movies and popcorn on Friday afternoons.
● Staff Appreciation Day – Different staff members were recognized for their accomplishments on Wednesdays during lunch.

“We tried to make October extra special by hosting different events, which had the goal of bringing more awareness about and appreciation of physical therapy and the therapists who help people every day,” commented Vicki Buchanan, owner of Regional PT.

Besides physical therapy services, Regional PT offers on-site aquatic therapy, comprehensive programs and massage services. For more information, visit http://www.regionalpt.com.

Regional PT plans to host more events throughout the year, including “Pajama Day” for staff and patients.
