Cornelius, NC (PRWEB) October 24, 2012
Fitzpatrick Engineering Group, a single discipline engineering firm specializing in commercial, health care and institutional structural design, has been selected as one of three finalists in the Innovations in Structural Engineering category for the 2012 Be Inspired Awards program of the Be Inspired Innovations in Infrastructure conference to be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on November 13th and 14th, 2012.
According to Bentley's Be Inspired website, the projects in the Innovation in Structural Engineering category demonstrate excellence in analyzing, designing or delivering one or more structures. These projects illustrate how the use of technical innovation can deliver high-quality structures or improved structural project workflows that enhance the structure's functional performance, delivery process or quality of service.
Doug Fitzpatrick will be heading to Amsterdam in mid-November to make a final presentation to the jurors, industry leaders and key members of the global press and elaborate on challenges and workflows that could not be adequately addressed in the online submission.
Fitzpatrick Engineering Group submitted a two story building that utilized new parametrically modeled elements with linked scheduling. The company met the challenges of additional requirements from the client, which included providing a 2012 Revit deliverable and providing the selected fabricator with an accurate structural model to jump start their detailing and shop drawing production. In-house testing had determined data exported from Revit was inaccurate, so Bentley's AECOsim was used for the host model. Bentley's Integrated Structural Modeler (ISM) was used to generate and deliver a fully complete Revit model to the client.
The selection of Fitzpatrick Engineering Group as an Innovation in Structural Engineering finalist signals another step in the company's success in providing structural engineering solutions for the commercial, institutional and health care industries.
