Late last night, Genetipetz launched its Kickstarter campaign in hopes of raising enough funds to bring its unique plush toys to production and to teach children the significance of science and diversity.
Genetipetz is a new startup company based out of Charlotte, North Carolina that combines features from multiple animals and creates new, unheard-of creatures. For example, what happens when the body of a giraffe is combined with the black spots of a cow? A Mooraffe is born, of course! Other Genetipetz that have been created by Dr. Genetipetz with the help of his younger friends include the Zebugraphant, Snurtlegator, Leopoctocrab and many more.
“My two sons, Jackson and Cavan, and I created Genetipetz with the intention of teaching children around the world the strength of science and diversity,” says Chris Meade, Founder and CEO of Genetipetz. “I also hope to teach my children how to start a business from the ground up with an entrepreneurial state of mind.”
Genetipetz helps children consider the possibilities of science by using different, imaginary DNA structures to create new animals that couldn’t exist in the wild. The company also celebrates diversity by showing children that the combination of many different features can make something better and stronger.
The project set its funding goal at $20,000 and has many different rewards to offer those who help bring Genetipetz to children around the world. Rewards range from personalized postcards written by Dr. Genetipetz himself to the experience of creating a brand new two or three animal combination and turning it into a Genetipetz. The Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to run for a period of 36 days and will end on November 28 at 7:00pm EST.
