Car enthusiasts – start your engines! The highly anticipated Mesquite Motor Mania will be held Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, January 18-20, 2013. This annual car extravaganza and competition has become so popular amongst contestants and spectators they schedule their attendance a year in advance! Last year, over 700 vehicles from all over the globe were on display, attracting 1000’s to the scenic city of Mesquite, Nevada.
The Mesquite Motor Mania is open to all years, makes and models of classic vehicles and special interest vehicles such as vintage, street rods and hot rods. Sponsored by the Mesquite Resort Association, the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino, the Virgin River Hotel & Casino, the Eureka Casino, the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Las Vegas Events, Mesquite Car Shows and the Las Vegas Cruisin’ Association, Inc., this year’s event will award $15,000 in cash drawings & prizes for Car Show participants.
An abundance of festivities and contests are planned at various locations throughout the weekend. From the exhilaration of the Roaring Engines Competition & Slow Drags/Burn Out Competitions at the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino to the thrill of the Show & Shine, to the enjoyment of the Poker Trivia Walk, there is something for everyone. Registration and check-in for Motor Mania will be at the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino Showroom on Thursday, January 17 from noon – 6PM; Friday, January 18 from 8AM – 6PM; Saturday, January 19 from 8AM – 6PM and Sunday, January 20 from 8AM – 10AM. Judging of vehicles will be ongoing throughout the event with the presentation of awards/cash to top vehicle participants will be Sunday, January 20 in the CasaBlanca Showroom.
If the car extravaganza is not enough incentive to spend an amazing weekend in Mesquite, The CasaBlanca Resort & Casino, Mesquite’s premier resort, is, once again, presenting The Smokin’ Big Chili Challenge. This International Chili Society sanctioned cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, January 19. Chili chefs from as far away as Canada will put their culinary prowess to the test for the privilege of claiming the crown as the winner. Mesquite Gaming’s own Director of Food, Bruce Landvik, will, once again, prepare his famous smoked chicken white chili, which has been touted to be “the best chili anywhere.” As in past years, those spectators wishing to participate in the People’s Choice segment of the competition and taste test the chili will be asked for a small donation of $5 . The entire proceeds of the donations will benefit the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, which provides disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks - visit their website to learn more about this wonderful charity.
