Nelson Expansion Prompts Promotion of Tony Bartenetti to Executive VP

Tony Bartenetti, named Executive Vice President at Nelson, to lead expansion into new regions and industries.

Nelson is pleased to announce the promotion of Tony Bartenetti to Executive Vice President at Nelson, a move driven by the company’s geographic expansion.

The role of Executive Vice President was left vacant when the former EVP, Craig S. Nelson, became the Chief Executive Officer in January of 2012. About Bartenetti’s ascension to the role, Nelson said, “Tony has been a valued asset to this company since 1998 and has moved steadily up through the ranks. He consistently models our values of excellence, innovation, empathy and integrity. I have absolute faith in his ability to lead and support his managers in achieving the strategic goals I’ve set forth for the company, which include expansion into new regions and industries.”

During his tenure, Bartenetti has been recognized with two Gary D. Nelson Leadership Awards for outstanding strength in leadership and management, traits that will serve him well as he and his teams drive Nelson’s geographic growth into Southern California and Texas. A graduate of the University of San Francisco, Bartenetti has lived in the Bay Area most of his life and has witnessed an evolution in the staffing industry locally and nationally.

“Lean economic times have encouraged organizations to think more strategically about hiring practices,” said Bartenetti. “Personnel expenses are often companies’ largest line items, yet it’s only recently that they’re fully embracing more innovative ways of bringing on staff. If a project warrants a consultant, companies like ours can make that happen. If the budget doesn’t allow for an immediate permanent hire, a placement can be made in a temporary capacity until the time is right.”

Numbers prove Bartenetti’s point. In the second quarter of 2012, U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.91 million contingent workers per business day, according to recent data released by the American Staffing Association.
