President Obama’s ‘100,000 Strong Initiative’ is to urge American youth to strengthen U.S.-China ties and prepare young people to succeed in the modern global economy. This is exactly what Sino Language Gateway has been doing.

Sino Language Gateway (SLG), one of the pioneers in providing cultural study abroad programs to youth, announced its three winners for its Facebook “My China Experience” Photo Contest. Students captured breathtaking and unforgettable moments during their cultural study experiences in China and shared their pictures on SLG’s Facebook event page to win votes from the SLG community. Students Alexander Gerrese, Jaime Ocon and James Kho garnered the most votes through Facebook “like”s and were announced as the event winners.

The photo contest began late September, calling all SLG 2012 summer camp participants to submit their favorite photos that they took themselves during their time in China. Among the submissions were snapshots of striking sceneries, exciting and fun times and activities, and memorable group photos of friends and students.

“From the photos we see, each individual had a different experience and feel for their trip in China, which was rich and various,” said Anna Yu, Director of SLG. “Some are friendship; some are the place, bizarre food, or special things they did. I believe that this experience has become part of their lives and will never be forgotten.”

With memories of great adventure, friendship and cherished moments immortalized through their photos, SLG students can treasure their valuable China experiences and look forward to their futures that SLG has helped to prepare them for. Aside from the SLG mission that is to teach students the Chinese language and culture, SLG also encourages its students build relationships with their peers in China and create a mutual understanding between the U.S. and China.

Yu added, “President Obama’s ‘100,000 Strong Initiative’ is to urge American youth to strengthen U.S.-China ties and prepare young people to succeed in the modern global economy. This is exactly what Sino Language Gateway has been doing by helping U.S. youth speak the language, understand the country, and be friends with the people of China.”
