Hip-Hop Icon Snoop Lion aka Snoop Dogg and his spiritual adviser Bishop Don Magic Juan have joined leading celebrities, political leaders and activists in the outstanding upcoming BET News documentary series “Second Coming?: Will Black America Decide the 2012 Election”
BET News has partnered with Marc Levin and Mark Benjamin, producers of the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy-nominated series “Brick City,” and Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sam Pollard (“Slavery By Another Name” and “Four Little Girls”) to produce the two-part news documentary, which follows agents of political activism through the 2012 election cycle.
The two part series premieres Friday October 26 at 9 PM ET/PT.
The highly entertaining and important documentary also features Brandon & Lorielle Broussard, the young activists behind “Barack The Vote” and focuses on grassroots activists in battleground states such as Tarsha Williams, Charles Perry, Pastor Jamal Bryant and others who take viewers behind-the-scenes as they mobilize the black community to vote in this year’s historic Presidential election

In addition to Snoop Lion’s impassioned plea for voter turnout, the documentary features an impressive, star-studded line up of Obama supporters urging citizens to vote this year, including Usher, Samuel L. Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Ice Cube, Common, Too-Short, Salt N Pepa and Warren G.

The character-driven series marries journalism and reality television to capture the African-American perspective on the 2012 elections and follows behind-the-scenes efforts to mobilize the black vote against the backdrop of urban youth violence, the debate over gay marriage and economic crisis. The producers capture consensus and division among organizers, celebrities and operatives as they wrestle with the process of making change and mobilizing voters to impact the Presidential race.
