Andean Dream, LLC, manufacturers of gluten free quinoa products, (http://www.andeandream.com), has been invited to be a part of the official launch at the United Nations on Monday, October 29th, 2012, for the 2013 "International Year of Quinoa" initiative.
Quinoa, considered a Super Food, by nutritionists and health experts alike, is gaining world-wide recognition for its high nutritional content. It is naturally gluten free. As a result of the success of this Andean staple, the production of quinoa has created an economic boom for the indigenous farmers of the region who previously lived in extreme poverty.
Andean Dream, LLC, a fair trade and woman-owned certified business, sells its products throughout North America in natural and organic health food store chains including Whole Foods Market. Since its inception in 2006, the primary focus of the brand has been to make a difference in Bolivia where their products are manufactured, and where the "Royal" quinoa is grown which is the key ingredient.
The Royal quinoa used in Andean Dream products is sourced exclusively from 280 indigenous farming families at fair-trade prices. The products also help provide jobs for women and other individuals who are economically and socially challenged. Royal quinoa grown only in the Bolivian Andes, is considered the finest variety available due to its high protein and mineral content.
The event taking place on Monday, October 29, 2012, will kick off with the official announcement at the UN General Assembly where almost 200 delegates will have the opportunity to sample Andean Dream Quinoa cookies. Other dignitaries, including Bolivia's President Evo Morales, will be in attendance.
Andean Dream is one of the only American companies given the honor to participate in the official launch and festivities because of their work over the past 6 years to promote U.S. awareness about quinoa.
