With the challenge of managing an increase in self-pay account volume, Mission Hospital deployed Connance Self-Pay to segment and prioritize uninsured and balance after insurance accounts for follow-up in their business office. “Prior to Connance, we had a team making calls to accounts based on balance,” said Dan Martinez, Vice President of Revenue Cycle for the Southern California Region of St. Joseph Health and lead on the original deployment. “But we were really being overwhelmed by the value and volume of accounts. Connance’s solution transformed our process within weeks of going live. Better still, the transformation is continuing with ongoing performance support from Connance as they monitor our performance and offer opportunities to improve.”
Recognizing that many people living in poverty were hesitant or unable to embrace financial assistance programs, Mission Hospital also deployed Connance Charity which leverages the PARO analytic for presumptive charity identification. “Like in self-pay, Connance’s charity process was straightforward and had immediate impact,” said Martinez. “With the two Connance solutions we can balance both the mission and margin of our institution.”
