Marissa Mayer has announced a move to shake up Yahoo!’s online search by removing the importance of SEO and stepping towards a more mobile based search engine company. The former Google employee hopes to use her vast insider knowledge to capitalise on the ever growing popularity of mobile search. The new CEO aims to update all services Yahoo! supplies such as sports, news, email and search facilities making them more smartphone friendly.
The 37 year old explained, ‘our top priority is a focused, coherent mobile strategy...it is clear that at some point in the future Yahoo! will have to be a predominately mobile company. Mobile represents not only a daily habit, but a platform shift we have to ride in order to be relevant.’
Yahoo! is currently used by 700 million each month but the company is currently failing to generate business from its vast amounts of users. Marissa Mayer plans to improve this by investing in new target technology which allows advertisers to buy ads automatically and ensure they are seen by the correct audience. It is seen as a bid to change tactics rather than compete with the search engine giant Google.
SEO.org.uk understands the importance of search engine optimisation and the business this can bring to a company. Ben Austin, Managing Director of SEO.org.uk commented, ‘we all know that Google is the most predominate search engine at the moment, Yahoo! are making a tactical and calculated move to make their mobile services better than Google’s as a forecast move, in the hope that in the future mobile users will be more inclined to use their superior mobile services.’
Such moves deeply interest the team at SEO.org.uk and they are looking forward to the improvements and developments that Marissa Mayer implements at Yahoo!
