Sean Sullivan San Francisco Real Estate Agent, a resident of the Haight neighborhood for less than two years, is involved and enthusiastic about his new neighborhood. Haight Street is gentrifying, fast. Some people panic at mention of the ‘G” word but Sean gets excited. Haight Street Market a neighborhood anchor and local institution, has recently doubled in size. The owners, Gus and Georgia have run the market since the early 1980’s. The sell locally sourced produce, meats, cheeses and fish. Sean says, “they are the Mom and Pop, the eyes and ears of the community. They are witnessing the transition in the Haight, and have been an anchor for the residents.”
The Haight neighborhood is like a small town to Sean, the business and shop owners, employees and residents make it one of the most friendly, engaging and diverse neighborhoods in San Francisco. The Haight and Ashbury Improvement Association was organzied to bring together residents and merchants as a way to communicate with with the police, city government, and to get improvement projects pushed through.
Another noted change is well-loved Red Vic Movie House gave up the ghost last year and plans have moved pretty fast by SF standards to make the most of this large space. Upscale food drinkery Alembic is expanding westward into the former theater with the remainder space being used for local food merchants in an old school food hall set up. The facade will be upgraded with new windows and doors in addition to the new interiors. Stay tuned for updates the positive changes on Haight Street keep coming.
Sullivan has over 12 years of experience in the complex San Francisco market. He got his start in 2000 as a sales agent for the Mark Company, which specializes in sales and marketing of new construction. He sold the high end properties in the luxury condominium complexes of Madrone, Infinity, One Hawthorne, Beacon, Hayes, and Brannan. After a year he was promoted to Sales Manager and given the additional responsibility of condominiums in San Jose.
